Academic Assistance

Question: I am struggling in class.  How can I get some help?

Answer:  There are a couple of different ways Coyne assists students who may need some extra academic assistance.

Tutoring – Instructor-lead tutoring is available to students that need some additional assistance with course material.  Tutoring is a benefit to students that meet attendance standards but can not be used as a substitute for attending classes.  Requesting tutoring is easy.  Fill out a Tutoring Request Form available in the Education Office.  Return the form to the Education Office and we will find a date and time for tutoring that work with your schedule.

Math Seminars –Math will be utilized in all of your courses here at Coyne, so it’s important to have the math skills necessary to succeed!  The Math Seminars focus on improving your fraction skills and include: reducing fractions, finding equivalent fractions, adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying fractions, and word problems.  Math Seminars are held every fourth week of day classes on Fridays from 8am-12pm.  The upcoming Math Seminars for the rest of the year are scheduled for:

  • Friday, August 5, 8am-12pm
  • Friday, September 16, 8am-12pm
  • Friday, October 28, 8am-12pm
  • Friday, December 9, 8am-12pm

Math Seminars are open to all current students.  If you are interested in attending one of the Math Seminars, you need to register with Ms. Hanson in Room 120. Attendance is limited to the first 20 who register – so register today!

Tutoring and Math Seminars are available to current students free of charge.

Helpful Hint:  If you are struggling in school for non-academic reasons, speak to your Achievement Advisor or other staff or faculty member.  Resources for housing, transportation, childcare, etc. are available in the Education Office and Career Services.
