Demand for support positions within the health care field is rising as the industry continues to grow and expand. With continued advances in medicine and medical technology, there will be an increase in the need for medical billing and coding specialists. Upon completion of Coyne College’s Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program in Chicago, graduates can be qualified for entry-level positions in offices of private physicians, medical billing services, hospitals, and health insurance companies.

What You'll Learn

Students will develop knowledge of medical terminology, health records management, insurance procedures, billing software, and medical coding in addition to business communications and office administration. The program includes six weeks of study focusing on Electronic Health Records. You’ll get the hands-on training you need for a career in real-life health care settings. What You'll Do

Medical billing and coding specialists organize and manage health information data. They use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information for insurance reimbursement purposes, for databases and registries, and to maintain patients’ medical and treatment histories.
